School of Brotherly Love

As Jesuit Middle School of Omaha (JMSO) students begin their first full week of classes, they will notice an additional member of the Sanders family in the hallways.  For the second time in school history, three members of an immediate family are attending JMSO at the same time.

Jacob, the youngest member of the Sanders trio, is in the fourth grade.  He enjoys reading books from the “Captain Underpants” series and playing outside with his friends.  Both David and Jonathan are active members of the JMSO community.  Last year, David was a member of the Jesuit Jaguar basketball team and served as a Student Council representative for the fourth grade class.  Jonathan, the oldest Sanders at JMSO, is in the seventh grade.  He was also a member of the Jesuit Jaguar basketball team and plans to run for vice president of the Student Council at the upcoming elections.

When they’re not at school, the Sanders brothers also participate on the River City Saints football team.  Jacob plays the position of running back, while David and Jonathan are both wide receivers.  Along with their parents Patrick and Angela, the Sanders brothers are active members of the Greater St. Paul Church of God in Christ, a mere few blocks from JMSO.

In addition to the Sanders trio, there are four sets of brothers who also call JMSO home:  Majeric and Keenan Ashley, William and Valentin Castro, Tyler and Kevin Ross and Lucas and Kevin Shelton.  Besides the sharing of school supplies and passing down of school uniforms, there are also benefits of having immediate family members attend at the same time:  reduced tuition.

Principal Tony Connelly is delighted to have so many young men from the same family attending JMSO.  “It definitely tells us that parents are satisfied with the education their sons are receiving,” said Connelly.  “It is a sign of a positive impact and confidence in what we’re doing here—advancing the hearts and minds of young men.”
